ANTITUMOR COMPOSITION ORIGINATED FROM CAMPYLAEPHORA HYPNAEOIDES, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new antitumor composition which uses Campylaephora hypnaeoides as a raw material and is especially useful not only as edible fibers but also as the new use of the Campylaephora hypnaeoides, and to provide a method for producing the new antitumor composition. SOLUTION: This antitumor composition originated from Campylaephora hypnaeoides is characterized by being obtained as a powdery substance having all of the following physical properties (a) to (d). (a) The substance is white or pale brown powder and is easily soluble in water. (b) The substance has a saccharide composition comprising about 50% of neutral saccharides, several % of acidic saccharides, and 20% of anhydrogalactose, and does not contain a sulfate group. (c) The substance shows a proton-NMR(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectrum, and shows a signal comprising only saccharides in the NMR. (d) The substance shows a band ranged from the starting point to 0.9 to 1.2 cm in a cellulose acetate membrane electrophoresis condition.
