<p>A thermoplastic vehicle trim or molding member includes a preferably elongated slot or cavity in one side. A stud or mounting member having an elongated base is inserted into the cavity, heated and rotated such that the elongated portions of the base locally melt, traverse through, and embed themselves into, the surrounding thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic is allowed to cool to form a secure, interlocking attachment to the molding member.</p> |
