发明名称 OXYGEN ELECTRODE
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an oxygen electrode which does not generate hydrogen peroxide as an intermediate product in the process of oxygen-reducing reaction by using as a catalyst a compound represented by Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst used in this invention is industrially manufactured as a pigment termed Prussian blue and can also be synthesized from iron chloride and iron hexacyanide. Among the oxygen electrodes of this invention, one obtained by depositing the catalyst on an electrode component such as carbon or metal by an electrochemical reducing method is specially preferred in terms of the close contact between the catalyst and the base material and the homogeneous adhesion of the catalyst. As the above electrode component, a member such as carbon, metal, an alloy or a metal oxide which is usually used as an electrode material can be used. In addition, the performance of such an oxygen electrode can effectively be exhibited by specifying electrolyte used in combination with the electrode. That is to say, it is preferred that electrolyte containing K<+>, NH4<+>, Rb<+> or Cs<+> as cation is used. The oxygen electrode of this invention can be applied to an oxygen electrode for a fuel cell in which hydrogen. oxygen or methanol.oxygen is used, an oxygen densitometer for determining the concentration of oxygen in solution, an ion densitometer or an ion detector.
