摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte type fuel cell power generation device and its operating method capable of preventing residence of a damp gas and condensation of water in a gas passing slot in stopping operation and of providing high cell output equivalent to that before the stop in restarting power generation. SOLUTION: Within a predetermined time after feeding of a reaction gas to a fuel cell is stopped, an inert gas or the un-humidified reaction gas is fed from at least one exhaust side of the reaction gas through a humidifying device to the outside of the fuel cell for a predetermined period in order to reduce moisture content in the fuel cell. For instance, by switching over a four-way valve 8 of an air feeding system and a three-way valve 9 of an exhaust system one minute after the power generation of the cell 1 is stopped and the feeding of the reaction gas is stopped, the air is run in the direction opposite to its normal flow direction through the four-way valve 8, a connection pipe 10 and the three-way valve 9, introduced from the air exhaust side of the cell and discharged to the outside through the four-way valve 8 after passing the air humidifying device 3.
