PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which has a high selectivity for potassium ions and can be stored for a long time, by mixing a specified cyclic polyether with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyether composition comprising 0.1-20pts.wt. cyclic polyether of formula I and 100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin. In the formula, R is an organic group of formula II or III (wherein X1-X12 are each H, a halogen atom, nitro, phenyl, a halogen-substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy, and an organic group selected from those of formulas IV, V and VI and organic groups of formulas V and VI, etc.). By using an organoboron compound of formula VII at a molar ratio to said polyether in the range of 0.001-0.5, the measurement sensitivity and life of a potassium electrode can be improved. In formula VII, Z1-Z4 are each H, a halogen atom, an alkyl, a haloalkyl, p1-p4 are each 1-5, and M is an alkali metal. |
