A method of forming polymers containing alpha -methylstyrene and acrylonitrile by polymerizing, preferably continuously, under off-azeotrope conditions to vastly improve rate without substantially changing the content of alpha -methylstyrene in the polymer being formed from that obtained under azeotrope conditions.
