<p>PURPOSE:To enhance contrast and to form a sharp image by passing white light from a light source through an infrared filter, opening dichroic mirrors, splitting the light into three primary colors and forming an image on a screen with the aid of a projection lens after the colors pass through each LCD. CONSTITUTION:In a projection type display device employing liquid crystal display elements 11r, 11g and 11b, images corresponding to three primary colors R, G and B are formed on the LCDs 11r, 11g and 11b. After the light from the light source 14 passes through the infrared ray cutting filter 13, it is split into three primary colors R, G and B with the aid of dichroic mirrors 12r, 12g and 12b. These three primary colors pass through respective corresponding LCDs, and obtained image lights are projected and synthesized on the screen 16 through the use of projection lenses 15r, 15g and 15b. Consequently, the brightness of black on the screen is decreased to enhance the contrast, and accordingly a sharp image is obtained.</p> |
