PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by transmitting a signal corresponding to the front ridge of a pulse to be transmitted through a 1st optical transmission system and transmitting a signal corresponding to the tail end ridge of a pulse to be sent through a 2nd optical transmission system. CONSTITUTION:A conversion circuit A11 generates two short pulses synchronously with the front ridge and the tail end ridge of another pulse and having a sufficiently smaller pulse width than the other pulse width. The short pulses are assigned respectively, the front ridge pulse to a light emitting element 12A and the tail end pulse to a light emitting element 12B and the light emitting element is lighted with the short pulse, as it is. The two optical pulses propagated through optical fibers 13A, 13B are individually received at a reception side, synthesized again in a conversion circuit B15 to decode the original one pulse. Thus, the power consumed for the transmission is required only at the rise and fall of the pulse and the power is remarkably reduced more than the system in which the power is consumed for the entire period when the pulse is set. |
