When a television receiver is switched on, the combinatorial circuit component passes from standby mode through startup mode to ON mode. The aim is to obtain a startup mode which eliminates the risk of damage to the switching transistor. During startup mode, the frequency of the pulses which control the switching transistor is continuously reduced at increasing switch-on time and constant switch-off time. At the start of ON mode, the synchronization is switched onto the line frequency and the system which controls the operating factor is switched on in order to stabilize the operating voltages produced. In particular for a television receiver with a Wessel circuit.
