PURPOSE:To use in common a spectral optical system for transmission and a spectral optical system for reception in a wavelength multiplexing transmitter/ receiver for optical communication for conducting a wavelength multiplexing and to contrive the simplification of a process of manufacturing the transmitter/ receiver. CONSTITUTION:First and second slab waveguides 2 and 3, which respectively constitute first and second slab waveguide wavelength multiplexing multiplexers in such a way as to make one group with Fresnel reflecting mirrors 4a and 4b and have the same structure, an optical waveguide 9f for supplying output light from the waveguide 2 to an optical filter 10 and an optical waveguide 9g for supplying input light from the fiber 10 to the waveguide 3 are provided on the same substrate. Moreover, an optical coupler 8 for branching the optical path of the fiber 10 into the waveguides 9f and 9b is formed, a laser array 6 is optically made to couple with the end part of the waveguide 2 and a photodiode array 5 is optically couled with the end part of the waveguide 3. |
