PURPOSE:To enable a user to correspond to a general television(TV) image receiver by periodically updating character information by a computer system side control means. CONSTITUTION:Each of personal computers 11, 12 forms required character information as a text file and the contents of the file can be ocasionally rewritten by a document editing function and periodically updated. A signal converter 20 has a controller 21 constituting a selection control means and an input selector 22, and at the time of displaying an image on the TV image receiver 50, the controller 21 successively reads out information stored in respective frame memories 24 at a prescribed period, applies the read contents to a conversion circuit 25, which converts the information into a character pattern by its built-in font memory and outputs and applies the character pattern to the receiver 50 as an NTSC signal format e.g. to successively display character information on the screen of the receiver 50.
