A medium voltage switchgear assembly of closed construction has at least one encapsulated functional module(2), an encapsulated interference module (3) with at least one damping cartridge and at least one pressure relief channel (6) attached to the functional module by an interference-pressure relief element (5). Each damping cartridge is joined to the outlet of the pressure relief channel by at least one diverter (7). The cartridge is designed in conjunction with the pressure relief channel so that the thermal energy of a pressure shock from an arc of at least 16 kA and lasting one second is absorbed, thus satisfying specified German criteria. A relief chamber is connected behind the cartridge.
