The connecting device has a housing (51) with a front surface (57a) which serves as a plug-in support surface for application of a matching connection device and which has a cut-out section (59). A front holder (63) detects a partially inserted state of a connector (71) and achieves double retention of the connector. The front holder is inserted into the cut-out section so that one end of the front holder is set inwards wrt. the plug-in support surface. Inclined sections (77) formed on the front holder guide matching connectors when two connection devices are plugged together.
