摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the variation in the output of optical detecting means caused by thickness of paper, and read correctly the optical density of density detecting patterns by providing a detected density stabilizing member having almost the same reflection density as the reflection density of paper in the opposed part of the optical detecting means in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The static latent image forming position is to be the portion where the toner image having developed is situated at the opposed part of an optical sensor 24 and passes through on the plate 28. Next, the static latent image is developed as toner density detecting apparatus 32 by a developer, and then transferred onto the non-image forming area of paper 16. The optical sensor 24 operates to read the reflection density of the toner density detecting patterns 32 on paper 16 passing through the plate 28 opposed thereto. In this instance, since the optical sensor 24 acts to read the reflection density of the toner density detecting patterns 32 on the plate 16, the output of the optical sensor 24 reflects correctly actual reflection density irrespective of being thin or thick in paper 16.
