PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet communication system that can surely conduct operation and supervision up to an optical transmission/reception module in the case of packet communication with a remote packet processing unit. SOLUTION: The packet communication system is configured with; an optical transmission reception section that converts an optical reception packet into an electric packet, outputs it to an electric signal processing section together with a reception state signal, converts the electric transmission packet signal received from the electric signal processing section into an optical transmission packet signal and outputting it; and an electric signal processing section that reads a control information code set from the electric reception packet signal, controls an optical transmission/reception module depending on control information resulting from decoding the control information code set, outputs the electric reception packet signal to the packet processing unit, generates a monitor information transmission timing, inserts monitor information code set resulting from coding the optical transmission/reception module monitor information including a reception state to the electric transmission packet signal in response to the monitor information transmission timing and outputs the result to the optical transmission/reception section. |
