PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital video data having a small-scaled memory. SOLUTION: Motion compensation of a digital video signal received within a frequency region is performed. The motion compensation forms a composited picture showing a reference picture corresponding to an intercoded picture within the frequency region for each intercoded picture included in a video signal, and then adds 74 to the intercoded picture. Each macro block of the composited picture is formed based on, at least, one of a macro blocks corresponding to an anchor picture in a memory 64. The anchor picture is quantized 70 and variable-length-coded 72 to be reduced its memory capacity, and stored. A composition technique used to form a composited macro block considers both field and frame motion compensation and full/half pixel accuracy. Then, an intracoded picture which is formed as a result of motion compensation is reformatted in the sequence of display. |
