The device for monitoring the output signal effect of a laser diode involves the laser light emitted from the rear facet area and an active, light-receiving area. The monitoring photo diode is fitted above an assembly unit which is arranged with a light-reflecting mirror comprising a closing, reflecting wave part on the separate assembly unit. The light-reflecting mirror reflects light from the rear facet of the laser to the active area of the monitoring photo diode. The laser diode is fitted on a suport, which has a cavity in which the assembly unit is placed. The thickness of the assembly unit and the depth of the cavity are matched to allow light from the laser to activate the active area of the monitoring photo diode after it has been reflected by the light-reflecting mirror. |
