The insufflation gas conditioning device is contained within a body and has a means for adjusting the moisture content and temperature to that required for the human body. The gas is supplied by an insufflation device (92) which at it's outlet side is connected to a gas supply channel (90). The gas supply channel is connected via the conditioning device to an insufflation instrument (100). Within the device at the end of the gas supply channel are arranged a heat exchanger (3), and a moisture controller (4). A device (5) for removing foreign substances from the gas is optional. The heat exchanger is arranged immediately after the end of the gas supply channel. A capillary tube (9) supplies water from a reservoir (6) to the heat exchanger.
