TITANIUM DIOXIDE, PHOTOCATALYTIC BODY USING THE SAME AND PHOTOCATALYTIC BODY COATING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium dioxide which exhibits high photocatalytic activity when irradiated with visible light. SOLUTION: The titanium dioxide contains 0.005-3.0 mol% (expressed in terms of element) transition metal. When the titanium dioxide is analyzed 8 times by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and the integrated spectrum of the 1st and 2nd analyses and that of the 7th and 8th analyses are obtained with respect to the electronic state of titanium, the position of at least one peak in the integrated spectrum of the 1st and 2nd analyses corresponds to 459-460 eV bond energy and the position of at least one peak in the integrated spectrum of the 7th and 8th analyses corresponds to 458-459 eV bond energy.
