PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyvinyl alcohol polymer film reduced in color irregularity, easily stretched uniformly and useful as a raw material for manufacturing a wide polarizing film capable of corresponding to the size-increase of a liquid crystal display screen. SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol polymer film has a width of 2 m or more and the retardation difference between two points separated by 1 cm in the width direction of the film is set to 5 nm or less and the retardation difference between two points separated by 1 m in the width direction of the film is set to 50 nm or less.
