PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thiazole compound useful as a raw material for synthesizing pigment dye excellent in optical fasteness and weatherability. SOLUTION: This new thiazole compound is represented by the general formula (1) (wherein, R is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aryl, a heterocyclic residue, a substituted amino or a halogen; R1 to R4 are each an alkyl; R5 and R6 are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy or an aryl; and R1 and R2, R3 and R4, R5 and R6 and R1 and R3 each may form a ring by binding to each other).
