The gear wheel axle (12) is supported inside the casing (1) on either side of the gear wheel (9, 10). The casing contains an electric motor (2) for driving a rod (3) with a saw blade holder (4) at its bottom end. A mechanism (7) is provided for converting rotary force generated by the motor into a back and forth movement of the drive rod. This mechanism comprises a gear transmission (8) with at least one gear wheel being rotatably mounted on an axle (12) inside the casing.
