CROSSING SUPPORTING DETECTOR, AND CROSSING SUPPORTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect the intention for crossing road of a visually- handicapped person who wishes to cross a crosswalk in the vicinity of the crosswalk, with high accuracy by appropriately detecting a stick of the visually- handicapped person. SOLUTION: The visually-handicapped person who wishes to cross the crosswalk 60 moves from the south to the north along a line-like Braille block 62, and comes at the cross-waiting position of a dot-like Braille block 61. A crossing supporting detector 21 is installed in the vicinity of the position at which a retroreflection member 42 provided on the stick 41 held by the visually- handicapped person before the cross-waiting position during the movement so that a monitoring area 10 is extended in a strip in the direction (east-west direction) orthogonal to the advancing direction (south-north direction) of the visually-handicapped person in the horizontal plane, and beams B1-B12 are irradiated diagonally from the top from the forward side (north) of the visually- handicapped person.
