<p>The method involves determining rate (R) and distortion (D) of encoding a part of digital signal of an image using encoding methods. Encoding cost (R+ lambda D) of the methods are compared, where lambda is a preset coefficient. The method with low cost is selected for the part. A new coefficient value is determined for each new color component of the signal, based on the preset coefficient associated to one of previous color components. - The digital signal has three color components, where one is luminance component and other two are chrominance components. Independent claims are also included for the following: - (A) a communication apparatus including a device of encoding a digital signal of an image - (B) an information storing unit readable by a computer or a microprocessor with instructions of a computer program, for implementing an encoding method - (C) a computer program product including sequences of instructions for implementing an encoding method.</p> |
