A field sequential color LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to divide an LC panel into predetermined areas and supply differently over-driven modulated data to the divided area, thereby improving a response rate of an LC cell formed at each area of the LC panel and accordingly improving deterioration of image quality. In an LC panel(102), plural gate lines and plural data lines are arranged. The LC panel is divided into plural areas. A backlight unit(107) sequentially irradiates RGB(Red, Green and Blue) light to the LC panel. A gate driver(104) drives the plural gate lines. A data driver(106) drives the plural data lines. A controller(108) controls the backlight unit to sequentially irradiate the RGB light, and drives the gate driver and the data driver so as to record data of LC cells on the LC panel whenever the light irradiated to the LC panel is changed. A data converter(110) over-driving modulates voltage of the data, which will be recorded in the LC cell on the LC panel according to the area of the LC panel, at different rates according to the area and supplies the modulated data to the data driver. |
