A car navigation system, a traffic information guidance method thereof, and a system and a method for providing traffic information are provided to guide bypass routes to avoid traffic jam by providing traffic information divided into detailed links. A system for providing traffic information includes a digital map database for collecting traffic information(380), a data collecting unit(310), a data generating unit(320), a digital map database for providing traffic information(340), and a traffic information providing unit(330). The digital map database for collecting traffic information stores a digital map for collecting traffic information generated by separating a traffic information providing link into detail links. The data collecting unit receives position information from a terminal. The data generating unit matches the position information on the digital map and generates traffic information on a predetermined interval according to the map matching result. The digital map database for providing traffic information separates the traffic information providing link into detailed links and provides the traffic information. The traffic information providing unit matches the traffic information from the data generating unit on the digital map for providing the traffic information and provides the matched result.
