<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunctions such as deterioration in durability and generation of abnormal noises by removing foreign matters such as wear powder or dust deposited on a contact surface between a vibrator and a slider. <P>SOLUTION: (S11) After an apparatus is powered on, a driving mode switching circuit switches the driving to an abnormal removal driving mode. (S12) A standing wave is generated so that a vibration actuator removes the foreign matters deposited on the vibrator, the slider and a lens group by using the vibration. (S13) The driving mode is switched to a usual driving mode by the driving mode switching circuit. (S14) The vibration actuator is driven in usual driving to execute detection operation of the reference position of the lens group.
