PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC generator for a vehicle which is not enlarged in contour, and can easily perform the positioning of housings in the circumferential direction without using a jig. SOLUTION: An alternator 1 comprises the front-side housing 4, the rear-side housing 5, and bolts 6. Penetration holes 42 are formed in the front-side housing 4. Threads 420 screwed with the bolts 6 are formed in the penetration holes 42. Penetration holes 52 for making the bolts 6 inserted therein are formed in the rear-side housing 5. The bolt 6 has a large-diameter part 62 which penetrates the penetration hole 52 in a state where the external peripheral face of the large-diameter part abuts on the internal peripheral face of the penetration hole 52 all over the internal peripheral face. By this, the positioning of the first housing 5 in the circumferential direction with respect to the second housing 4 is performed by making the large-diameter part 62 penetrate the penetration hole 52 while making the large-diameter part abut on the internal peripheral face of the penetration hole when fastening the bolt 6.
