PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging system capable of obtaining a high quality image which has little noise and in which color reproduction does not collapse regardless of reduced gradation width. SOLUTION: This imaging system for performing conversion that reduces the gradation width of an image from an imaging system to an output system is provided with a photographing situation estimating part 15 for estimating a photographing situation about the image, a Y/C dividing part 12 for dividing the image between a luminance signal and a color-difference signal, a correct exposure extracting part 13 for extracting a correct exposure area on the basis of the luminance signal, a conversion curve calculating part 14 for calculating characteristics quantity about the correct exposure area, preparing a histogram on the basis of the characteristics quantity and the photographing situation and calculating a gradation conversion curve for converting gradation of the image, a restriction setting part 16 for applying restriction to the gradation conversion curve, a gradation converting part 17 for performing conversion on the basis of the gradation conversion curve subjected to the restriction, and a color-difference converting part 18. |
