PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a glass surface state from being locally damaged.SOLUTION: An apparatus for bending a material sheet to form a shaped article comprises: a support body for holding the material sheet; and heating means that includes a heat source and a selected member for concentrating heat from the heat source on a reshapeable area of the material sheet, and locally heats the reshapeable area of the material sheet to a selected temperature range corresponding to a selected viscosity range during holding of the material sheet on the support body. The heat concentration member is selected from the group consisting of (a) an optical member including an elliptical mirror reflecting the heat onto the reshapeable area of the material sheet, and (b) a shield member including a heat resistant shield having an opening for concentrating the heat onto the reshapeable area of the material sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1a |
