PURPOSE: To improve a magnetic recording medium including counterparallel first and second magnetic layers formed to realize an improvement in thermal stability and a reduction of medium noise in such a manner that magnetic recording and reproducing can be performed at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording medium includes a structure obtained by magnetically coupling, in a counterparallel state, the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer across a nonmagnetic bond layer formed therebetween, in which the exchange bond magnetic field Hex of the first magnetic layer is set greater than the coercive force Hc 1 of the first magnetic layer and the coercive force Hc 2 of the second magnetic layer, respectively. |
