Reduction of setting time of deflected vibratory structure - using deflection by external force variable in time

Apart from the external force variable in time, an elastic force and a damping proportional to speed also act on the structure. The damping proportional to speed is set accordingly at a higher degree than the aperiodic limiting case. At the start of a setting operation the structure receives an additional pulse which is proportional to the external force or the deflection caused by it. The pulse is so rated that it corresponds to the pulse taken from the structure by friction coupling during the setting operation. The method can be used to reduce the setting time of the moving coil of a moving-coil voltmeter.
