PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein having an Na<+> /glucose transporter activity, a DNA encoding the protein, a method for screening a compound stimulating or inhibiting the activity of the protein, and a compound obtained by the screening method. SOLUTION: A protein having an amino acid sequence identical or substantially identical to a human-derived specific amino acid sequence is useful as a diagnostic marker of diabetes or the like. A compound which stimulates or inhibits the activity of the protein, and which is obtained by the screening method using the protein, is useful, for example, as a preventing or treating agent for a disease such as diabetes or hyperlipemia. |
