摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain titanium oxide for a catalyst carrier, capable of maintaining a high surface area when it is fired at a high temperature and useful as a carrier for a catalyst, such as an ammonia denitration catalyst, used under a high temperature atmosphere, and to obtain the ammonia denitration catalyst which is obtained by supporting a catalyst material on the carrier having the high specific surface area, is capable of maintaining a high specific high surface area even when it is fired at a high temperature, and has high activity and excellent heat resistance. SOLUTION: A method for producing titanium oxide for the catalyst carrier is characterized by bringing titanium oxide into contact with a solution containing a silane coupling agent and then firing. A method for producing the ammonia denitration catalyst comprises bringing titanium oxide into contact with a solution containing a silane coupling agent, then bringing the treated titanium oxide into contact with an aqueous solution containing the catalyst material, and firing.
