PURPOSE:To automatically adjust the inclination of a sweep wave form simply, rapidly and accurately, by adjusting the timing signal for controlling the inclination of the sweep wave form on the basis of the reference pulse counting result within a sweep period. CONSTITUTION:A sweep wave form generator 14 generates the sweep signal and sweep gate signal corresponding to a timing reference signal and control signal by the input of a trigger signal. An AND gate 16 is opened by the sweep gate signal corresponding to the sweep period synchronous to the sweep wave form of said sweep wave form generator 4 and the reference pulse from a reference pulse generator 15 is counted by a number-of-pulse signal measuring device 17. A system controller 11 operates a gate time from the counting result and the inclination of the sweep wave form is calculated on the basis of the initial and upper limit voltages of the sweep wave form. Further, the controller 11 refers to a calibration data memory 12 on the basis of the inclination calculated to calculate a proper timing reference digital word and a reference timing signal properly adjusting the inclination of the sweep wave form is supplied to the generator 14 through a D/A converter 13 and the inclination of the sweep wave form is automatically adjusted in a simple, rapid and accurate manner without using a highly accurate element.
