The block copolycondensates are built up from at least one polyarylene ether sulphone block containing units of the structure

and at least one polyimide block containing units of the structure

where R<1> and R<2> are identical or different and are hydrogen or methyl, and X is methylene or 1,2-ethylene.
They are prepared by condensing polyimide blocks by melt condensation onto amine-terminated polyarylene ether sulphone blocks obtained by known conventional methods.
The block copolycondensates according to the invention are suitable, for example, for the production of mouldings.
