PURPOSE:To prevent a lowering in the density of a transfer image in a case combined with an n-time mode method by functionally separating an ink layer into a dye supply layer and a dye transfer contributing layer and also incorporating spacer particles in the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 2 is provided on a substrate 1 by respectively laminating a dye supply layer 4 wherein a sublimable dye is dispersed in an org. binder and a dye transfer contributing layer 5 on the substrate in this order. Then, spherical spacer particles are dispersed and contained in this ink layer 2 so as to protrude from the ink layer 2. In this recording medium, the sublimable dye is sublimed from the transfer contributing layer 5 to be transferred to an image receiving sheet 3 through a free surface but, at the same time, the dye is diffused and supplied to the transfer contributing layer 5 from the lower dye supply layer 4. By this method, good many-time printing becomes possible but, at the time of n-time mode recording, by containing the spherical spacer particles having a particle size larger than the thickness of the ink layer 2 in the ink layer 2, release and the transfer of the ink layer can be prevented. |
