A blast attenuator and ventilator assembly (10) for use in hardened or protective structures or the like that includes within a hollow housing (16) a chamber (32) that is arranged to receive directly the blast effect. Adequate openings (44 and 46) for gas flow are provided so that appropriate gas flow for ventilation can occur therethrough.
