摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization efficiency of the light emitted from a compact structure by integrally laminating a light detector and a source of light on a semiconductor substrate. SOLUTION: Surface optical laser consists of a semiconductor substrate 30, an light detector 40 laminated on the substrate 30 and a light source 50. The light detector 40 receives the light emitted from the lower surface of the light source 50 and the light transmitted through a first reflector 51, and the light detector 40 is used for the monitoring of the light source 50. As the quantity of light, which is emitted to the lower surface of the light source 50 and detected by the light detector 40, is proportional to the quantity of light emitting to the upper surface of the light source 50, the quantity of light emitted through a cavity 58, can be obtained from the quantity of light detected. Accordingly, the quantity of light emitted through the cavity 58 is adjusted by regulating the intensity of an applied voltage by the signal obtained from the quantity of light detected. As a result, the utilization efficiency of the emitted light can be improved with a compact structure.
