PURPOSE: To provide a molten carbonate fuel cell in which the liquid junction breakage of an electrolyte on the interface of an electrolyte plate and an electrode is prevented, the flow out of the electrolyte is reduced, and effective reaction area in the electrode is practically kept to make long time operation possible. CONSTITUTION: A molten carbonate fuel cell has an anode and a cathode made of a porous body, and an electrolyte plate arranged between the anode and the cathode and formed by impregnating an electrolyte made of mixed alkali carbonate in a porous body containing a holding material and a reinforcing material. The electrolyte plate contains inorganic fibers whose one end bites into the pores of the electrode on the interface coming into contact with at least one electrode of the anode and the cathode. |
