The system is based on a three battery system in which one battery is required to start a motor and, if the starting battery is discharged, will still start the motor. The monitoring system can differentiate between a good and a defective battery. The lack of voltage is recognised by a comparator using flip-flops to make a decision as to whether the voltage interruption is normal or whether it is necessary to switch in an auxiliary battery to ensure the start operation.
