PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus to/from which a recording medium is attachable/detachable, capable of imaging even when the recording medium is unloaded and preventing image data recording from being failed due to the unloaded state. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus where an external recording medium to record image information generated by imaging an object is configured attachably and detachably permits a user to conduct imaging of the object even when the external recording medium 7 is not loaded to an imaging apparatus main body 1 and informs the user about it that no external recording medium 7 is loaded to the imaging apparatus main body 1 so as to select the propriety of a releasing motion independently of whether or not the external recording medium 7 is loaded to the imaging apparatus main body 1 so as to prevent the recording of the image information from being failed due to the external recording medium 7 not to loaded to the imaging apparatus main body.
