Servo steering system control device

The servo steering control device monitors the torque applied to the steering column, the vehicle speed and the resistance to the steering e.g. road resistance, steering resistance. The CPU periodically computes the required servo factor, from the data, and provides an approximation to the higher order function of the servo factor characteristic. This provides a continuously updated value for the control of the servo motor. The data is transferred with a 16 bit mode of which the upper 8 bits are used to drive the servo motor and the lower order 8 bits are ignored, but are used in the calculation of the next value. This reduces errors introduced by failures in the lower order 8 bits.
