A sliver feed and opening device for an open-end (OE) spinning apparatus has a roller (3) for feeding sliver, a revolving cylinder (8) in a casing (14) for opening up the sliver, a flexible feed table (4) for compressing the sliver and, between table and cylinder, a releasable sliver support piece (10) which has an edge for turning the sliver over and a support face for pressing the sliver onto the cylinder. The casing comprises two sub-units (15, 16) which hold the sliver support piece till it is changed.
