PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preform inspecting device that can accurately inspect the side wall of a preform with no omission of sensing over the entire circumference without rotating the preform on its axis. SOLUTION: A preform hold part 1 and a surface light source 3 on one surface side of the preform 2 are arranged, and on the other surface side of the preform 2, two cameras 41 and 42 are arranged at specific anglesα1 andα2 from the prolongation of the optical axis 20 connecting the surface light source 3 and the center axis of the preform 2 with the shortest distance; and pieces of image information from those camera are processed by a computer to sense a defect 4 such as an air bubble and a foreign body in the side wall of the preform 1.
