PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image having good dispersibility of a coloring material, excellent in transparency and color forming ability and capable of ensuring stable electrostatic chargeability and developing performance by dispersing the coloring material with a synergist and a polymer dispersant. SOLUTION: In a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image contg. at least a bonding resin and a coloring material, the coloring material is dispersed with a synergist and a polymer dispersant. The synergist is not particularly limited if it is a compd. having strong interaction with the polymer dispersant as well as with the coloring material but a deriv. or precursor of a pigment or dye having the same skeleton as the coloring material is preferably used because of its great affinity for the coloring material. A known polymer dispersant may be used as the polymer dispersant. The amt. of the synergist and the polymer dispersant used is 0.1-100 pts.wt., preferably 1-50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. coloring material. In the case of <0.1 pt.wt., the desired dispersibility of the coloring material is not ensured.
