The system uses an absorption device to remove low intensity signal components. This absorption device being a saturable optical element which transmits only the light having an intensity equal to or greater than a threshold, thus suppressing the noise signal. A light signal with a wavelength lambda 1 which includes a noise signal is combined with a continuous light of wavelength lambda 2 from a source (1) in order to produce a composite signal in a coupler (3). This signal passes through a saturable absorption optical element (4) which transmits only the light having an intensity equal to or greater than a threshold, thus suppressing the noise signal. The output signals are then separated by a wavelength divider (5) and the data signal of the input signal is replicated in the output signal.
