PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print by correcting rough impression of halftone images in an inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: A pattern-detecting part detects whether or not consecutive five dots in a main scan direction is a black/white/black/white/black pattern to be corrected. When detecting, the detecting part sends a pattern detection signal to an image data-correcting and outputting part. With the pattern detection signal being input, the image data-correcting and outputting part converts a second black dot of an original image signal to three black/white/black dots each having a half cycle and converts a succeeding white dot to a white dot of half the cycle, thereby thinning a dot width of the original image signal before outputting the signal.
