<p>Unmelted waste (40, 50) is added to a container for vitrification. The lowest zone (40) of the waste is melted by heat applied by heating elements (25) while further waste (100) is added. Following melting of the waste in the lowest zone, the next higher zone (50) is heated by elements (35) until melted. This continues until the container is filled and all waste has been melted.</p> |
