PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying apparatus capable of obtaining an optimum and uniform water content in a timber of all types. SOLUTION: The drying apparatus for timber comprises a heater 6 for induction-heating the timber 10, a dryer 7 for drying the timber 10, a conveying mechanism A for sequentially circulating the timber 10 in closed loop-like state via the heater 6 and the dryer 7, and a controller 11 for controlling the heating time of the heater 6 to prevent overheating in such a manner that the timber 10 arriving at a target water content of the timbers 10 passed through the dryer 7 is conveyed out of the mechanism A and the timbers 10 except it are recirculated by the mechanism A.
